Blitzing Flounder

Yesterday morning I got a call from Cowboy to find out where I found the fish yesterday. It was Mike's 51st birthday and they wanted to put him on some fish. They went out in the morning and only could find a, yes one, trout. In the afternoon they called again and invited me to come along. We met at Iguana's. Don and his wife own it and live in back.

We launched and went directly to a spot I picked. Hard heads and rats only. As we worked up the pass hitting several cuts and pipeline rock piles we started finding about 3 or 4 at the beginning of each one. After that many fish in the same area the water got stirred up bad so we jumped to the next one.

There is one place that we can not get into due to heavy silting but the fish were hanging in the shallows. This water is so shallow that not once but twice we saw nice flounder sky rocketing. I figure they are laying flat on the bottom and as the bait swims overhead the come up and grab it. Being the water is so shallow they come completely out of the water and become airborne. I was amazed to say the least. It was a first for me and all 4 of us saw it happen twice. They were not the same fish either due to the difference in size. We did manage to get one of them out of there.

This was a 1 hour trip and we had to get back for a little party so we headed back, cut the cake, and cleaned the fish. We are planning on doing it again this evening.

Life is Good!
Fishing is not a matter of life or death. It's more important than that.

Cool to see the flounder airborne. I've only seen it once myself.
