Moving to BR

Well, just accepted a new job in baton rouge today. First day is the 26th, so will be moving out there this month. So, what's the hunting and fishing like over there? Er, I guess what I should say is, where is a good place to rent over there? Maybe Denham Springs area? What about hunting and fishing?

Congrats on landing a job! In my opinion, Denham Springs and Walker are my preferred locations for raising a family. If I was younger and trying to find a spouse, I think I'd want to be closer to LSU and the bigger churches. If I dug the bar scene, then I'd also want to be closer to LSU. A lot of things depend on the job, your commuting preferences, and whether your work hours are flexible enough to commute off peak.

City is a big ch it hole...crime is worse than in NOLA...PLUS THE
CITY HAS NO CULTURE AND NOTHING TO DO...they put rice and sausage (made in Michigan) in a pot and act like it is cajun food...

depending where in BTR you will be working, you can look into three distinct areas......Livingston, Zachary, or Ascension Parish......all have benefits and weaknesses.

I've come to find good places to eat.....some just cost the bones......but there is not much culture and the crime rate has gotten embarrasing.

I have lived in Ascension all my life and would be happy to show you around my stomping ground

I would recommend the Central area. Only a few minutes out of BR, great public schools, and rural areas are still available. I grew up in plaquemine about 12 miles SW of BR, but practically grew up in BR along with my extended stay at LSU. There is great hunting and fishing within 45 minutes of BR. If you need some recommendations or need pointers shoot me a pm.

Traffic around LSU SUCKS in the afternoon. Luckily I can walk to campus. Besides that, the area is really cool. Lots of bars, lots of good food. I kayak the LSU lakes a lot, never catch much but I really go to look at women running by.

Josh.....like I posted a month or 2 back, I will get with you to make a Deer hunting trip to Sherburne. I got hunting spots there where I seldom ever see another hunter. If the water is up, we'll need hip boots.
