Dad and I are both Steak lovers. So the search for what would be served on father's day was not particularly difficult.. :D

I hand cut 4 1 1/4+ inch thick Ribeye's from a Half of a whole uncut Choice Angus Ribeye (I cut up the rest of em and put em in the freezer for another day)

They are currently marinating in their olive oil and cowboy rub bath. (garlic, caraway, some coffee grounds, pepper.... etc and a few other things)

Then on to a red hot grill for some searing this evening. No cow's will be cooked past medium rare and you can bet on that.

will be accompanied by a Loaded Baked potato.

Sometimes you just shouldn't screw with a good thing. ;)

If I am able to remember after I take em off the grill and let them rest, I will get ya'll a follow up photo tonight.

Sounds like it's going to be a great meal. My wife wanted to cooked a big blown out seafood meal but I suggested we just have burgers. It's been a few weeks since we had burgrs and I wanted to keep it as simple as possible short of cold cuts so I'll be grilling a bunch of salsa burgers.
Getting ready to go throw them on the grill right now. It's time to fire up the outdoor fryer for french fries too.

Dad love's him some steak. So i know he will be tickled pink :)

I'm gonna lay pretty even odd's that your salsa burger's are gonna be right tasty!

I gotta get me an burner fired fryer, I been using on of the "fry daddy" type's with the elements on it... But i need one i can hook up to some propane!

Enjoy nate... happy father's day to you and to all the other daddy's around.

Wow!! Looks great!! Why coffee grounds??

AceArcher 06-16-2013 08:06 PM

Use some coffee ground in your spice rub that you put on a steak, It imparts a unique and interesting flavor that is goes very very well with steak. You don't use a lot, if I were making a rub for steak i would use

1 part kosher salt
1 part black pepper
1/2 part caraway seed
1/2 part coffee ground
and maybe a little bit of cajun season in it as well.

Try it, you will be surprised at how good it works.

for an easy version just take 2 tablespoon montreal steak season and add 1 teaspoon coffee grnds.
