Finally Got Him Back

Well, my buddy told me a few months ago he had this beauty ready for me. It wasn't until this weekend that I finally got to see him again. I shot this bird hunting with my buddy and his brother on some of his in-laws' property in Fenton this past December. This pair of mallards had been flying around all morning, but never in gun range. They finally made that fatal mistake around 8 or so when they flew straight in, and I proceeded to drop both the drake and hen. My first greenhead and first double. Actually didn't plan on getting him mounted, but they had a friend that was trying to get into the duck side of taxidermy, and since I was a guest, I said what the heck, take it, but I want it if it comes out good.
Gorgeous duck, had 4 nice curls. |
Congrats. I have a widgeon and a redhead at the taxidermist right now and they should be ready in about 3 weeks.

Man I'd love to have a Widgeon one day. Haven't even seen one on a hunting trip, much less got to shoot one.

That is a fine mount right there. I love the color of those Redheads man.

Thanks. It was my first redhead. We don't shoot many where I hunt in PI. Only when we have high water. Had only one pellet in its breast.
Henry Barker 337-235-7067 He does great work and is very fast. Dropped him in December and got it back end of April. |
Damn, that's not bad. I shot this one in late december, and it was ready in Early March. Just didn't get a chance to meet up with my buddy until this weekend.
