Is there any place on the refuge to catch shrimp from the shore? I have never been down there and have some free time this week.

Price Lake Road but it is closed for the summer. I see a lot of people throwing by Rollover on the side of the road but not sure what they catch.

Went this weekend caught a couple pounds then lost our cast net at the big concrete weir. Don't cast on the west side of the weir. Fished pretty hard to catch about 6 doz big crabs. Not a bad day.

Caught about 16 Jillion 3 -5" croakers at Rollover. My whole net writhed and croaked. Caught some big ol' blue cats on those croakers.

Bronco74, how did you lose your cast net? Did you forget to tie the rope with the cast net in your wrist?

C'mon, give me a little credit, the parlangua monster rose up and chewed
my arm and the cast net off so we couldn't steal his shrimp anymore! Hahh!

It got hung up on something down there. I was told there is an old pipeline that crosses and is full of oysters.

There's something there and it didn't used to be years ago. Pretty sure I've chewed up a net to 2 there.

Just got back today. Shrimp at the concrete dam had good numbers, but were mediums(and smaller). The LSU had fewer, but were considerably larger. Water never seemed to be moving much.

CHUM STAIN 06-22-2013 09:20 PM

i was at the mudhole last saturday. shrimp were few and medium at best. did manage some crabs though.

rustyb 06-22-2013 09:30 PM

Went to rollover to catch bait to go offshore and shrimp were med- large and about 20-30 per cast.. No mullet or croaker only a few shad. On the way in 4pm stopped and they had all but stopped. They had nice crabs also.
