GPS Recommendations?

I am looking to purchase a new Mountable GPS for my Kenner Bay Boat. The Lowrance GPS that I have presently does not function properly. Does anybody have any advice on what kind of GPS I should purchase? I am looking for one that is dependable and moderately priced. Thanks for the help!

Just bought and installed the Garmin 546s. Works great for me. Has coastal maps. I've been happy with their Cust. support in the past. Good luck!

I have the new Lowrance Elite 7 HDI unit with GPS, Downscan imaging and traditional 2D sonar. Very happy with it and the menu is easy to navigate on the water. $699

Garmin 541s is on sale at West Marine right now for $499. Chartplotter/fish finder combo. Great unit, real good price

I bought the same unit and I agree with the comment about the menu. Seems to be easy to scroll, etc., and load info, but not sure about the gold card feature yet. I was loading my old waypoints yesterday, (that went very well and it was easy to do), but when I tried to zoom in on some of them on the map, it seemed to take an excessive amount of time to get the info from the card to zoom in. I noticed that the SD card icon would flash at the bottom until the map finished the zoom. Haven't put it in the water yet, so I'm hoping that the delay was caused by the fact that the unit couldn't see the sky cuz I was under my shed. Also don't know if my choice of where I mounted the transducer (on the trim tab) is going to work out.

Also check out the Raymarine Dragonfly. I use one personally and it is bad arse to say the least!

Thanks once again for the info.. Will the Garmin, Lowrance, and Dragonfly units discussed above display updated images of such coastal locations as Cocodrie, Dularge, Calcasieu Lake, etc.? I am using this for all practical purposes to be able to upload fishing maps in and around the coastal areas listed.
