vbay

Vbay absolutely sucked today. Got there at 7 and left at 11:30 without a bite and saw a few people out there but nobody was catching.

Anybody else make it out there with better luck?

The water was not salty at all and Im not sure it will be for a while.

Did you see many shrimp boats? I wonder if they catching out there. I been shrimping by the house but nothing yet.. I bet we need another cold front

blackmamba 10-25-2009 09:04 PM

I didnt see any shrimp boats. Nobody, 0 people near the trashpile it was very strange. I guess they all knew something I didnt

yeah i looked at the modis pictures yesterday and saw it was muddy so we called off our trip.. Talked to some friends who went this morning and they also didn't catch anything. Next weekend shouldn't be as bad if we miss a front this week. The winds look southerly and not too rough. I'll be out there if the weather holds out. Thanks for the report though

Most people including me didnt go because the atchafalaya river is high. We also got alot of rain this week....it might be over with in v. bay for a while....

I have always heard that once the river is above 10'.....stay away from V.B. Can someone verify this....

That is correct for the most part, you can catch them in the pass and t butte when its that high. Water is probably muddy in those areas as well though.

An older fella at the launch said if it gets over 11 it is done but it usually doesnt get that high until the end of the year. Im gonna hit up Big Lake friday.

thats true about the basin levels. It will keep the bay fresh for a while. The fresh water always dumps out of the calumet and flows right into the bay. We usually dont have any problems with this until spring time ,but it looks like we are in for a really wet winter.

that sucks man... Me and dad were considering going offshore yesterday, but then we saw sea's 2-3 feet. Put a damper on our weekend. :( About to go hit big lake one weekend. Going have to invest in some waders though, I have always wanted to do that. Thought about doing that in V. Bay but i heard the bottom is too soft.

Yea I think the only spot that would be good to do that is when you come out of the Delcambre Canal to the left, there's a sand bar there that you wouldn't sink too bad on.

yeah.. but i'd like to fish like that in weeks bay. That would be so nice not to have to fight the trolling motor and the winds

Montauk17 10-26-2009 02:45 PM

weeks bay is way too soft to wade....

nah man.. where is that? I'm up if anyone needs a partner. Saturday if the bay isn't pretty, I'm probably going to Cazans (dont' know how its spelled). Its a little bass hole i know of in Ville Platte. Hopefully the water is pretty though. If not I was going to go to Chicot.

speck-chaser 10-26-2009 09:46 PM
