Me too. How much trouble is getting all the stuff including tagging or whatever you have to do to make the traps legal.

Academy has the best price around lake Charles. Think it's $27 for trap and float. I get mine out of Slidell from a commercial guy in the fam.

What have you found to be the best bait? Fish Heads? Have you ever tried the crawfish cubes?

This week I used freezer burned meat. I use whatever is available without buying.

Ahh guess its about time to fill an ice chest! After working cattle in Pecan Island yesterday I was tempted to pull In at Little Prairie and see what they had for sale and boil a few... Think ill just make a trip this weekend and catch some!

Garfish 05-19-2013 09:06 PM

Hell yeah! Burl em up!!

Marshrat 05-21-2013 09:57 PM

FYI, the escape rings are supposed to be at the floor of each level. From the looks of your pictures, they look to be about midway up from the floor of each level. Here is wording from LDWF pamphlet: "Rings must be placed on the vertical outside walls flush with the trap floor or baffle with at least one ring located in each chamber of the trap".

My traps were inspected by a LDWF enforcement officer and passed. You can't even tell what the orientation of my trap is from that picture.

I think he was just looking out for your best interesest and not trying to bust you.

Anyone out to the west use the rings? I have a dozen that i use on the Point Aux Chene Reserve I can normally catch my limit in an hour so if they running good. We use leg quarters for bait. There is a guy that come to the Raceland Farmers Market every Saturday Morning that sells them. I think he gets $130 a dozen maybe a little more. They hand made and hold up very well.

Wasn't thinking that. I was just saying that I did my homework.
