Dulac 5/5 Spots bad, dots good

Foolishly decided to brave the NW wind and we were met with dirty open water. Didn't even make a cast and retreated into the protected marsh where the aquarium-like conditions awaited. The water was reportedly very low on Saturday, but was plenty high enough Sunday. It was important to concentrate on ponds with grass and which were tucked into a corner without ingress from canal or bayou water. Simple enough. What wasn't simple was fighting the algae explosion that fouled trolling motor props, baits and, ultimately, the collective mood.

We managed five reds sight-casted and several more break-offs due to poor equipment choice and bad presentations. Just tough to set up a good drift with the wind and grass, but fun day watching the myriad, mullet, sheepshead, black drum (never gave the bait a second look) and redfish. Many of the reds looked like they were radioactive in the clear water.
