Bayoy black help
 

Im looking to make a trip to bayou black next week and I've never been there before. Ive looked at google earth a few times but it is pretty undescriptive as to where to fish. Im not looking for somebody's fishing hole but I'm just looking for a starting point. I don't want to get stuck or run my boat into somewhere I'm not supposed to be.

Turtle Bayou is a good place to start. There is plenty of good fishing all over in Bayou Black just got to basically ride around and try it out.

I asked the same thing 2 weeks ago and no hits!!! So, I went fish my tournament and caught one 12.5" fish. There is a great deal of private canals and private marshes. So, what you are seeing on google earth that looks amazing is most probably a NO TRESPASSING area. I was told that fish the backs of the canals that the marshes drain into. That is where your clearer water is going to be. I caught my fish on a Big Bite Bait 5" jerk shad in natural shad color (same color as "bait fish" in Zoom Fluke). I was fishing the mouth of a wind blown marsh in the back of a canal. If I was to fish there again I would do the same thing but down size the lures.

If your tournament lets you........let everyone leave and fish the launch canal with a brush hog........the point of the canal with cranks.

take a right out the canal and fish the first dead end to the right and along the banks headed to the intracoastal.

Also do no be afraid to fish clear water draining into the intracoastal.

for you first time, maximize fishing time.

Like simple peddler says don't be afraid to to fish the intracoastal. There are lots of drains into the IC that give up fish. Look for clean water. It's a beautiful area this time of the year. I used to have a hunting lease and camp south of Bayou Black and did a lot of fishing there. It is a huge area and not the kind of place you want to get caught up fishing "spots". Look for clean moving water. You'll notice trends, dead end canals, gass along long pipeline canals, run outs etc. Once you start to see them it'll get easier. Good luck.
