Collapsing trailer tongue

Do you know if the can be added to
an existing trailer without this feature? I bought a boat today and it is about 8 shy of fitting in my garage.

You can add it.

Is your trailer aluminum/galvanized?

Is the part leading to the tongue box tubing?

If it it's galvanized and box tubing (should be 4x4x1/4) bring it to a welding shop and have them weld it on for you. If you know how to weld it shouldn't be very hard.

Make sure all the galvanized material on the tongue is grinded down to bare metal. before you try welding on it. You can also buy galva bar and re do you galvanizing after you finished welding it. Just warm up whatever you welding with a torch, rub the bar on it, when it melts his it with a stainless wire brush.

Bolt on

I just bought a new galv trailer but my old steel trailer had the breakaway, it bolted on. If you do add it(not by manufacturer) it will void the warranty on the trailer.
