Swamp Cancer in Horses

Any of you horse owners out there, have y'all ever heard of Swamp Cancer in horses? I went down today to check on my horses in the marsh and found one of my geldings had what appeared to be a blown out abscess on the back of his foot. After looking closer it was a growth that ruptured and dug out a deep area into his leg.
Talked to the vet this afternoon and that is the preliminary idea of what it is. Seems it is a fungal infection that horses pick up in wet environments. I had never heard of it but will find out on the vet trip tomorrow what this entails.
Has any one else had this happen??

It sure is nasty looking.....bringing him into the vet tomorrow to more than likely have a chunk of tissue cut out.... They sure do get fat running in the marsh but there are some mean germs out there!

Foot rot.
Can be fixed if not gone too far.
