Best Pass to Fish 2/17

Tides should be rising and moderate that afternoon. It's my son's 12th birthday and I've been granted some leave time to take the young man fishing. He wants to fish jetties chasing da bulls rather than working the Big Lake or the marshes around Leeville.

I know Calcasieu Pass, Belle Pass (Fourchon), and Caminada Pass (Grand Isle) pretty well from Spring and Summer trips, but Calcasieu is the only one I've fished in the winter.

So, what would be your best bet to get the young man on a bull or two for his 12th birthday? Or should we hit the other side of Grand Isle and go deep in Barataria pass?

Not sure about the fish.

On another note though, I thought you guys were moving back this way?.

IMHO I would fish Caminada pass. W/ the new bar and the rocks at the pass you can target deep to shallow and good cover in a very small area.
But i have never fished Calcasieu ??

You should book him a tuna trip with Deep south charters. That will definitely be a trip to remember.

Caminada pass should be good like the other poster said with the new bars and rocks.. Also if you know the area 4bayous pass on the east side of barataria pass.. Usually can pull a few out of there.. Good luck hope he gets what he is wanting to caught.

I head to the grand isle / fourchon area, 3 deep passes within 20 miles of each other = better chance of catching if the action ain't on at the other

We're very active in ongoing job searches, but haven't landed anything yet. We prefer at least one spouse to have a job before I leave my current employment to move.

Gotcha.;) Thought I had seen where one had landed a job but, my mind does play tricks on me occasionally!:rotfl:

Always a good idea to have at least one working, I must agree.
