Big Lake 1/5/2013
We were the only boat on Big Lake (that we saw) this morning. Wind started whipping right when we got to Heberts around 7:30 a.m., but no rain. We went straight to the weirs and the water was rushing out. Stayed for 3 hours and 4 of us caught and released over 70 redfish on anything that floated (no live bait). Most were 25 to 28 inches. Water was chocolate color, but we came from Texas and had to fish today. Left at 11:30 a.m. and the fish were still bitting. Still want to catch monster trout, but hope this was a just warm-up (pardon the pun). Should be back in a month.

Red n black center console? Saw one from inside buddies camp headed from that area fighting rain. Looked like a fun ride.. Lol

That wasn't us. We didn't have rain and were off by noon. We were in a white/lt blue Pathfinder.

Danny, Sounds like y'all had a good trip even with the weather.
I hope you and the family had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! We need to get together this spring and wet a line. |
Paul,
We will definitely get together. We are close to closing on a camp on Big Lake. I'll let you know. You have given me a lot of information and I'm doing pretty good. Still having trouble getting a lot of trout, but redfish and flounder are really easy. I'll be in touch. Happy New Year to you and your family as well. Danny |
