Merry Christmas from CVN-69

Merry Christmas to the SC crew from the USS Dwight D "Ike" Eisenhower crew. Reported yesterday around 1600, no one is on the ship... So here I am just walking around a multi billion dollar ship kinda all alone.

Question though for the ex-Navy guys. How long did it take for y'all to get settled in? I have a rack, in front of cats 1&2 so this oughta be interesting trying to sleep. Work starts tomorrow at 09 and ends at 15 so that's a plus. Can't wait to get moved to a barracks

Merry Christmas Shipmate!...yea everyone that could run fast enough from that ship during the holidays did already lol ....but take this time to get familiar with the ship and how to get around it...it wont take ya long to get settled in.....I slept 3 decks under cat 1 for 8 months...and i slept during the day during flight ops.....i used to count maybe 4 or 5 cat shots and i was passed out..you'll be able to sleep through ANYTHING after this lol

I'm a former marine, men's dept of the US Navy, it doesn't take long at all to get settled in.
Ship life is interesting for sure, I forget what they call it when you have to work the mess decks but Marines only had to do it for 30 days while the sailors had to do it it for 6 months, if I were you I'd be trying to get that out of the way now instead of when you have 3,000 people aboard and underway. Do they still blow all the damned whistles while you're in home port?
Pro tip, buy some extra shoes and glue the soles together you'll be thanking me when the water in the showers backs up.

Snapped a few pictures. First one is the IKE in her Christmas colors and the next one is the V-1 division's LCPO
