Rainbow trout are stock in 4 brec ponds North sherwood, Perkins, Burbank, Zachary

The trout been in the ponds since tuesday.
If you like to catch them on flies you can use Rainbow clear bubbles from Cabelas they are clear corks in the floats section. Add water 1/2, put on swivel, and then 2 to 3 feet and your flie. You throw it a country mine even in the wind.
Again need some air in it to keep the bubble floating.

Catch them on corn, marshmellows, flies, and small crankbaits

Fly fisherman like to keep it quiet due to then wine and scream bloody murder if you take home some of the trout. I personally do not due to they taste bad, but fun to catch.

Limit 4 trout per person, just basic Freshwater fishing license.

Vague description...Baton Rouge area. Not sure if you're from the area or not but, that's the general area.

I'm not, but will travel with fly rod to BR for rainbows! How long will these fish last...and provide good fishing???

Go to brec .org and there is a list of parks w/ locations.
The trout will survive till fished out or the water temps get above 70 deegres
#12 black wooly booger was catching and releasing every cast last year at forest park .
I find that they eat good, but they are not good fried. Baked or broiled w/ lemon butter and tony's

They did this @ the I 10 park in Jennings about 20 years ago, the limit was 4 also .

Roostertail was the killer , we could catch them all day long

What's the reasoning behind putting them in? Just fun for the locals, or does it help the system? First I errr heard of it

sacalaitman 12-26-2012 01:38 AM

Fun for the locals I'm guessing.

Put and take. Just so that folks can catch a fish they may never otherwise have a chance to catch.

LOL BREC is still saying that they haven't stocked yet. They are saying Sherwood , perkins , forrest and Zachary. Same crap they pulled last year .They didn't announce until a month after the stocking.
