.22 choices

I am about to buy a .22 in the next two weeks. What do yall shoot and how do you like it. I am thinking of a ruger 10/22 with a BSA sweet 22 scope. Anyone have any advice on this gun or scope or prefer others. Also, which ammo do yall usually prefer to run through the .22's. Thanks

10/22 hands down! I don't have a scope on mine and, I have no plans to put one on it.

I've got an old Marlin 25 with a bushnell scope. Think its the winchester hollowpoints I shoot.

Love my 10-22

Cheap and accurate go for the Marlin Model 60. With iron sights I'll outshoot my brothers 10/22 with a 3x9x40 all day long. That MigroGroove barrel is amazingly accurate. I only run CCI ammo through it and never had a FTF or FTE. You can get on opticsplanet.net and find a decent scope for a decent price.

Ruger 10/22 with nikon prostaff rimfire and some wolf match grade ammo

x2 on the Marlin model 60. Much more accurate than my 10/22. I have the BSA 3x9x40IR on it and shoot remington yellow jackets and its a tack driver

I like Henry lever action

I just bought my sun a 10/22. Have not put one round through it. I'll let you know next weekend how it shoots.

MathGeek 10-14-2012 07:43 PM

I owned a 10/22 once and was not happy with the accuracy. The two 22LR's I've owned with impressive accuracy are a Thompson Center Contender Carbine in 22 LR and an Izhmash Biathalon Basic 7-2.

If you want absolute precision go with either a CZ or Anschutz.

I'm with you MathGeek, I have the Thompson Center Contender in 22lr, 22 Mag, 223 and 7-TCU. I have never shot anything more accurate.

My buddy has a Savage .22 with the accu-trigger and thumb hole stock. Thing is a tack driver.

DA COVE 10-15-2012 07:21 AM

10/22 for the snakes, head shots all day long out to 25 yds off hand. Use savage h/b 17 hmr for the tack drive'n.

FF_T_Warren 10-15-2012 02:50 PM

10-22 is a great purchase. now if you want to spend a lil more money, i just bought a browning sa-22 and absolutely love it. its a sweet shooter and nice to look at

wishin i was fishin 10-15-2012 03:40 PM

for options, you cant beat the 10/22. i customized a 10/22 with a 2.5lb trigger kit, recoil reducer, target barrel, and a leupold 2x7.

it will put 10 rounds of target ammo in a dime sized group at 50 yds.

BassYakR 10-15-2012 04:04 PM

I have the remington 597 and stock for stock will out shoot the 10/22 all day! I love it

Jordan 10-15-2012 04:07 PM

i have a 10/22 and can stack rounds in a dime at 50 yards all day. I shoot CCI SGB. Bad a$$ bullet.
