adding water to bait bucket

I just got some shiners and was hoping to use them today before the rain started but it got here early. So looks like maybe tomorrow or sunday. I have a little bit of water now but i wanna add some to it. Can i use well water?

Not if you have a water softener that uses salt as your softening agent. The salt will kill them!

I've had good results keeping shiners and other bait fish for several days using an aeration and changing the water in the bucket once each day. I used well water without a water softener. In many systems there is a spigot to draw off water before it gets to the softener. Also, it is important to keep the buck in a cool, shady spot.

Rain water is the best wataer for that!:)

Seriously catch some rainwater if you can and use it, well water will be fine too if not much chlorine.
