Lake Verret Cat-fishing

I have heard good things about cat-fishing in and around the edges of the lake. I know if the weather turns it gets ugly fast. I have never been there and was wanting some suggestions about a evening/night trip there. I am not asking for your spots, just a point in a right direction. Also any suggestion on bait other that night-crawlers and shrimp. Being as i go mainly at night, areas close to the landing are preferred but not necessary. It is about a hour and fourty-five minutes from me in Denham Springs. So if you have other areas than False, and Old rivers in about the same travel time i'd love to hear them. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

In the spring time you can kill them with a worm under a cork in the cypress trees

I use green worms sometimes but night crawlers work good for me.

Night crawlers are the best. Unless you want to mess with slat traps. 100 fish in one trap

I used to own a camp there. worms tress and watch out for weather. Not the same anymore since Chilly's shut down.......
