Made a trip this morning and was planning on fishing the Lake Charles area and the water was not the best looking and that was no movement and no bait to be found anywhere. So we made a move towards Big Lake area which I very seldom fish but the one I was riding with said he knew the area fairly decent. We fished in Turners and then the ship channel on the edge of Turners and the water was decent and the temp was about 86 to 87. We managed to tag and release 10 reds which is what we went looking for and got on some trout action. We played catch and release for a little while with the trout which were in the 11 to 14 inch range. Probably caught and released 15 to 20. All fish were caught with the baby trout skitter walk which by the way is in some reds mouth. My fishing partner was using the bone and silver spook jr. We also used some root beer color gulp shrimp on the bottom for some of the reds. Sorry no pictures no one bothered to bring a phone with them and I forgot my best top water rod. It was a good day on the water and the weather was very nice.
