Club tournament location ideas

This was the first year of our club and we started it right at the last minute. We had a schedule but changed it a little as we got moving through the year and adding people. Now we have kinda got on our feet and the year is coming close to and end (2 tournaments left). We will be holding a meeting shortly to decide on what lakes or rivers we will fish and get a tenative schedule for next year. This year we fished Sam Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Calcasieu River, Sabine River, and Lake Chicot. Would ya'll mind taking the time to tell me a few more places and maybe a little descripion of conditions and weights to be expected. I've been doing a lot of research and the smaller less known places have no info online and we have to keep in mind that most of the boaters have very expensive bass boats.

PS our club is not big enough yet to say we can't fish something because the size. As long as it will take 21' bass boats.

Henderson, Lake Vernon or Miller's lake come to mind. Sabine or Red river.

fishnla 08-18-2012 07:11 PM

We went to Sabine once this year, acctually were gonna go twice, but all the different size limits and rule changes up and down the river we didn't really like it. Matter of fact half the group broke the law just to bring some fish to the scale. Didn't break club rules or anything, but we wasn't big on all the controversy that could have started over that.

What can yall tell me about Indian Creek Reservoir? Is it big boat friendly? Or Caney Creek Reservoir? Is it even worth the drive from south La anymore?

I fished Indian Creek several years ago and caught good numbers even with it being the first only time i went...big boat friendly as well.

Thank you

Miller's NOT big boat friendly. Also, closed for duck season. Indian Creek would be a good place.

fishnla 08-22-2012 10:21 AM

Yeah I'm kinda hoping we can go to Indian Creek next month now that Chicot is getting dropped, but I think a few people already have Henderson in mind. I really want nothing to do with that place.

I've never fished over there but what I think I understand is that all the waters over there have a 14" minimum, but everyone catches 50 to 100 11" fish and like 1 to 3 keepers.
