Where do you put your bulb?
Having issues w/ filling up gas line when pumping the bulb. Mine is placed after the water filter; between the filter and motor. Will I do better placing the bulb before the filter; between tank and filter? 200hp Johnson w/ spin on filter 3ft from motor. Seems I can never get the bulb to fully fill up, starting takes a while. Once engine is started will run fine the rest of day. Thanks....

Maybe a small airhole on filter or bulb where they connect.

Mine are located after the filter and I have no issues. This is on a 25hp merc and a 200hp merc.

After was well on mine.

I would change your bulb and see if that helps. you might also change the hose between your separator and the bulb . Mine was between the filter and the motor on my two stroke also

Thanks guys....Meaux, I just changed all hoses/bulb from tank, filter, bulb and motor to the new recommended type (blue grey color). I've always had issues w/ this since new. Seems an air pocket forms in the separator and won't let it fill up totally w/ fuel. I'm thinkin' on changing out that separator unit to a new one.

Good idea if that doesnt work another thing you might check is the fitting that comes out of the tank might be slightly gummed up. There was a one way ball valve on mine that got stuck a few times and would make the fuel slow to come through

I have a similar problem. Bulb is between engine and filter.
Had an old bulb and it was in bad shape, replaced bulb and fuel lines put bulb out of sun in compartment. Engine always starts fine but as the day goes on and it gets hot out I start having trouble. If I forget to pump the bulb later in the day, after I start up engine will die. Ask Gasper Master about this, he can tell you about hitting the deck Saturday. The bulb seems to get air in it. Maybe an air leak somewhere? |

My bulb was between fuel water seperator and motor. When I changed my filter, it would take forever to prime again, but after that it was fine. Now I put my bulb between the tank and filter so when I change the filter it doesn't take so long to prime again.

Well I guess it is worth a try for me to move the bulb between tank and filter.

Yea mine stayed topped off. Also, if you point the discharge of the bulb up when pumping, its supposed to pull better |
Dont buy hoses and bulbs from walmart those suck as far as quality goes,I think its the attwood brand .I have had bad ones right out of the package . I usually put the bulb before the filter so it will fill the filter on the way to the engine .

I use the quicksilver bulb and fuel line from oriellys

Mine ain't the merc or quicksilver...before I remove that filter assembly I gonna change the bulb out tonight. Thinking about it I have no fuel leaks through the whole system...bulb seems the logical culprit. |

Bulb before filter I don't think there is wrong way it just seems to fill faster and my boat sat for about a month and 3 or 4 squeezes and it was tight, but it does wor both ways.
