Im probably going to be selling my boat in the very near future. Its only one year old and i just had the first 20 hour maintenance done on it. Its an 18' nautic star and loaded with options. PM me if you think you may be intrested and I'll send you pics and a list of all the options.

What is the difference between a bay boat and a center console? Not being stupid just didn't relize there was a difference.
Will be fishing Big Lake, Marsh Island, Grande Isle and rigs. Mostly Marsh Island and rigs. Probly 3 to 6 people in boat 3 most days. Not really on a budget but kinda am looking to spend no more than 35 if possible

Center console is typically a deep vee boat.
Higher sides and no decks to cast from.
A center console is hard if not impossible I mount a trolling motor on.

A bay boat has Lower sides, less vee/ less draft, has alteast a front and most have a rear deck.

Center console is made for big open water. Handles big waves better.
Bay boat is made for lakes, bays & near shore fishing. Not Made for big waves.

For the areas ur lookin to fish here are a few boats to look at.
All bay boats.
Nautic Star 21-22 ft models
Sea hunt 22 bx 225 Hp
Blazer bay 21-22 ft 150 -200 Hp
Blue wave purebay 2200 150-225 Hp
Tidewater 22 ft 200hp
Skeeter 2250 225hp (higher sides then the other 22 ft boats)
Frontier 210 200 Hp

Those are the recommended Hp in my view.
As u known the more Hp the more $$$

35-40k can get those all new if u search & are willing to travel u can get even better deals!

a center console has the steering wheel in the center, a 'bayboat' can be a center console but not all bay boats are center consoles, nor are all center consoles considered 'bayboats'

SaltyShaw 08-06-2012 10:16 PM

In the price range your wanting i would say go with a Frontier with Suzuki on it
I think they get pretty good performance out of the 175 Suzuki on the 21 Frontier

PUREBAY2200 08-06-2012 10:17 PM

Any word on the performance of a frontier with a Zuki 175 or a sho 200??

SaltyShaw 08-06-2012 10:17 PM

Haynie got wood but solid as a rock . . . . .

SaltyShaw 08-06-2012 10:17 PM

Heard the SHO 200 drank up the gas

PaulMyers 08-06-2012 10:18 PM

I would buy the Frontier 2104 with the zuki 175. It's a larger boat than the Nautic Star 2110 and can be had for less than the NS with the same equipment also. The Frontier line of boats are made by Bill Kenner and the ride is every bit as good as the old Kenners.

I have a 210 Frontier and love the boat. It has a 150 4 stroke yamaha and while it is sufficient, I will go with a bigger motor when I buy my next one. Probably 175 Suziki
