Big Lake on Sunday
 

Me and a fellow Salty Cajun (another Cajun transplant in TX) are planning to hit Big Lake on Sunday. He's fished it before but not in quite a while, and I am a newbie... Any thoughts on locations/areas?

I have room in my boat for one more if anyone wants to join - we may not catch fish but I can promise all the beer and B.S. you could ever want.

BTW, GPS coordinates, maps, thermal imaging, etc. greatly appreciated :help::help::help:

The weather is supposed to be a lot better by then. Rob said something was supposed to pass thru and clear up before the weekend.
The Specks are all the way up to the I-10 bridge right now. Gerald and I talked to a guy fishing a 15 ft. alum. flat and yesterday he started at the I-10 bridge and caught Specks all the way down to the I-210 bridge on DOA shrimp.
Just hit any reefs in the lake. I don't think you can do wrong there. Be sure to be chunking lures at daylight. In my opinion, that is the best time to catch fish, the first couple hours of daylight.

If you are not to familiar with Big Lake you should buy you a map (Hook-n-Line). They make a nice one of Big Lake showing a lot of reefs. I think it is a good map to use if you are not familiar with the lake. Calcasieu Point landing, the store at the landing used to sell them; also, you should be able to find them at Academy or some speciality sporting good stores.

Academy, Lake Charles Tackle and Ship to Shore have them.
I think they run $12 to $15.
