Dularge Trout Fishing

Good times on the DU! Yesterday I fished with Dr Kirk Smith and his crew from Lafayette. We were hoping we would be done by 10:00 am but it was not that easy. We picked at the fish at every stop and really struggled for most of the morning. It was one here one there totaling 25-30 fish for the day. We had 2 nice reds to go with the trout and we shut it down by noon. Today was back to slamming the trout with 78 yr old Dr. Jim Ford. Jim had not been fishing in almost 2 years as his last outing was a tragedy. He was night fishing by himself at the Picketts when a sudden storm came up and capsized his boat. He was lucky to swim to the platform where the guys could help him. He never was able to recover his boat as it eventually sunk a few days later. Jim was hoping to bust up the fish and get in early and thats just what we did. We caught our 50 trout by 9:00 am leaving them biting every cast. Live minnows and croakers did the trick. It was a pleasure to fish with Dr Jim and he cant wait to come back to the DU. Good luck fishing.
