grand isle advice
 

ok guys going down to G.I. and stayin at bridge side with wife and kid looking for some advised on where maybe to fish,have been fishing leeville for about 5 years now and never went to G.I.,have a 20 ft xpress with a 115,any advice would be helpful. thanks in advance

Went last week and did fairly well despite the lack of tide. The beach of Grand Isle should be good, just fish the troughs between the rockpiles early and late. We fished to the west of Caminada Bay in a small boat just fishing the marsh and caught plenty of trout while we were really targeting redfish. When you put in at Bridgeside you can go back under the bridge and fish the rockpiles right there and usually catch some trout and reds, if you use shrimp you are gonna catch plenty of croakers and catfish. You may find some birds around Caminada Bay as well.

Elmer's Island was not doing much while we were there but maybe now.

If you want to catch something big, you can put a cracked crab on the bottom in Caminada Pass and catch bull reds

Try to find some green water, that will help you catch specks infront of beach by rock piles.

what would be a better live bait for that area live shrimp or minnows not looking for size just to catch a few

You will catch a few more trash fish w/ shrimp. But overall i think shrimp.

X3.... Buddy went to GI this weekend and tore them up next to the jetties on live shrimp. The second he ran out of shrimp, he didnt catch squat. Also, saw a bunch of people fishing the surf and the only ones catching any trout were using live skrimps. Do it!

my sister is down there now, if it calm like she says it is will are going to try to hit the beachs if not will try and find some of the reefs on the back side but definetly will get a few live bait for in the mornings, we gonna do some crabbing in the after noon in the surf thanks for all the help
