Tent camping

Does anyone know of a place to set up a tent near the west cove boat launch? Is it legal? Thanks

Not legal to camp around there. That's part of the refuge.

Thanks. I've camped at the intracoastal bridge before. But do you know of anywhere closer to West cove?

Let me know how it works out for you, I plan on doing that this fall. Its alot short run then from Lafayette in the a.m.

Worked out nice. I'm pretty sure I had the beach to myself. Bring off and get in and out of the tent ASAP and close zipper immediately. The breeze was nice. I actually got cold in the middle of the night.

Thanks for the update, as fall approaches I will be getting my gear together.

Tim3516 think we might of met you at the boat launch. Did you get some bait from some guys?

tim3516 07-17-2012 03:08 AM

Nope. Wrong guy I guess.

We camped last year on holly beach. Like you said get in and out the tent quick! We set up a table right on the edge of the surf and fried fish. And we put our lawn chairs on the surf also. Mosquitos didn't bother us all night there. But if we got 20 feet from the water they would get us. And we also had a nice sea breeze all night.
