Ft Morgan Surf 5/3-5/5
4 Attachment(s)
Headed down to Ft Morgan for a couple days with the family. Played more golf than i got to fish but it was good times. Tried fishing the surf in front of the beach house and the hardheads were thick. They would grab my shrimp/ sand flea/ squid within seconds of it hitting bottom. We caught maybe 10 or so. Last day we were there i headed further west toward the point near the entrance to the old military base. I waded out and started throwing a spook and got a blow up on my 3 cast. Not sure what these fish are but they put up a great fight! ended up catching 3 of these in about 20 minutes, then the waves got too big. Can someone clue me in to the kind of fish these are?

First one is a ladyfish, second is a bluefish.

Smaller bluefish are good to eat. Fry em up and make a poboy!! Both ladyfish and bluefish are aggressive and good fighters. |
LADYFISH aka mini tarpon cause they like to go airborne!

Ladyfish aka Skipjack.....aka Poor Mans Tarpon, Bout like eaten a Remora.
Bluefish are ok IF you take out ALL of the Bloodline and if he don't eat you first. |
lady fish a some bloody sob's, if they even see a hook they start to bleed all over the boat! n blusfish are some line cutting sob's! we find schools of 3' lady fish in breton sopund that strech 500 yards just making the water boil, throw a bomber long a reel it in as fast as possible n its like fighting mini tarpon ...very acrobatic

Ahh lady fish. Those things are fun to catch. And yes if you catch them in a boat they make too much mess to be fun but on the Beach its my favorite. I actually have a few baits I keep just for beach fishing for lady fish.

Got into a huge school of ladyfish in weeks bay a while back....like mentioned the water was boiling there were so many. Fun to catch if nothing else is biting.

Watch those bluefish they will tear you up. Had one cut the back of my hand a few years back. I was glad it was just a glance and not a bite
