Riceland Calls

Looking to buy a Riceland Speck call.
Any of you guys have a "connection" wit them boys for deal?
or know of a used one?

or one on a shelf?

Lake Chuck Duck 05-04-2012 07:36 AM

I want to say that cmcnabb knows them

cmcnabb 05-04-2012 07:37 AM

I know James personally, but I wouldn't ask him to cut costs on something he sells. If you want a deal, look at getting their poly call. It's well worth the money. Don't buy one from a store either, go see James at his house. He will tune until you are happy

simplepeddler 05-04-2012 07:41 AM

That was more tongue in cheek really.
I will call them.

Can't order from the website and a ride over may not be in the schedule soon, but man there calls sound great.

I am looking at the poly, seems like a great deal. Sounds just too darn close not the give it whirl.

Hope I did not offend you Cmcnabb.........not my intent to discount your friend or his product.

Heck...........maybe them boys need some electrical supplies.........be surprised how many times I discount what I sell.

I have heard great things about the speck calls. Will be getting one myself real soon.

Lake Chuck Duck 05-04-2012 07:43 AM

I am probably going to make that upgrade myself for next season.

DUCKGOGETTER 05-04-2012 07:45 AM

I know a few people that have speck calls by him and love em.

cmcnabb 05-04-2012 07:56 AM

You didn't offend me at all. The poly is a great call. My buddies have them and one day I left my calls at the house. I used my friends poly and the birds didn't seem to care what the call was made out of. I blew a redbone before I got hooked up with a riceland. I was dead set on what I got works and no need to change it. Well all it took was one time on a riceland to see the difference on how easy it is to blow compared to a redbone. Takes much less air and is more forgiving

My dad has been using a primos for almost 20 years until this year. He told James he would have to build the call so he could blow it exactly like he has been for so long. Dad said he wasn't changing his style. James built him a call like I've never seen, looks goofy like a Canada flute, but my dad picked it up and could blow it with ease

yea, I'll bet a trip over is worth it.

Air is becoming an issue for me the older I get.
Chen Caille is my go to now, but you have to be on your P&Q's with the thing, and have plenty air.

Redbone is one I looked at, but I'de rather go local

SaltERedneck 05-04-2012 08:10 AM

I called James one day and he just told me to shoot on over at my convenience. Very nice guy. Have tried redbone and shawn mann.... gonna drop da hamma soon.

Let him know air is an issue. He can solve that very easily

I've had a redbone speck call and it was a great call, but some how i lost the guts to it. James told me the same thing to just stop by his house and he'll get me one together. This will happen real soon since i'm in sulphur about 3 days a week for baseball games.

Call Bill Daniels at 337-622-3000 Im pretty sure they can mail them.

duck enticer 05-24-2012 05:30 PM

Bill Daniels mailed me mine. The Poly runs $60 and is worth it. They are shaped differently than most other calls. I had to learn to change the way my hands cup over the call, but once I did it sounded real good.

The guts fell out of my call midseason. I e-mailed Daniels and he sent me two reeds and the retainers free of charge back in the mail.

I am pretty impressed with Riceland and would definitely recommend them.
