Please Help!!

Does anyone know of any good places to go inshore saltwater fishing off of a bank or pier in south Louisiana? I'd prefer something relatively close to Lafayette, but I'll go anywhere if I'm likely to catch something good. We've tried Cypremort Point and Rockefeller with no success. We don't have a boat yet, nor do we know anyone that has a boat. I'm new to fishing, so I don't know where to go.
Also, we're having trouble finding live shrimp for bait. Are they not sold in bait shops? Or do we just need to catch them ourselves?

Thanks and have a great day!

You can catch reds and drum off the bank right before you get to the mermentau river bridge in grand chenier. Nobody in the area sell live shrimp but you can catch them with a cast net off price lake road in rockefeller.

Thank you both for the replies. I will look into that, Montauk

My father-n-law lives on the mermentau river and he's been catching reds on dead shrimp.

I have been to Rockeffeller seveal times and passed over Mermentau bridge. To help me and this lady out......where exactly are you talking about? East or west side of the river? North or south of Hwy 82? Do you fish in the shadow's of the bridge or a 100 yards away. I guess if I were there looking for the spot, it might be easy to find.....but would probably have my boat.

Price Lake road..... The name is not on any maps I have seen. I have looked along the Hwy for where I thought the road might be, but have not seen it. Where do you turn off Hwy 82 to get on PL road?

East side of the river.....if you look on good maps where the river makes a bend closest to hwy 82 there is a set of pilings along the bank and a small peir. Not sure if this area is private or not but I have fished it before and nobody bothered me. There was no keep out signs or anything like that, keep in mind it has been 3 or so years since I fished there. Price lake road shows up on google maps,it is just past the wlf headquarters in rockefeller. Cast net along the pipes and culverts for shrimp and mullet. You can also catch trout reds and flounder right by the joseph harbor launch with live or fresh shrimp under a cork. If the water is clear enough you can catch them on plastic cocahoe minnows. You can catch along price lake road too but be ready to weed through lots of garfish.

Rollover beach. Cut mullet on the bottom will produce big reds all day long. Or go a little farther to holly and try it there. You'll find some surf fishing tips on other threads here, just do a search for holly beach

You mean rutherford beach aka the mudhole? If so,yes plenty off bull reds and giant gafftop cats and if you catch a rare day good for trout.

Would the ship channel be a good option for her to go bank fishing? I have seen a bunch of people fishing north of the ferry on the Holly Beach side.
