Anthony Ferry/Houston River area

I don't have a boat yet so I'm restricted to what I can get to from the bank. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good location/bait for bass around the Anthony Ferry area. Or should I even bother ?

Thanks,

I have seen folks fishing next to the launch before...sure they catch bream and bass. As far as bait, i don't know anyone in sulphur that has live shiners...or i haven't paid attention b/c of not buying shiners

Yea, the sign says no fishing within 50ft. I've thrown every bait I have with not even a single bite.

I have seen a few folks fishing under the bridge on hwy 27 as it crosses the river... havent been down there so i dont know if they catch.

I was catching fish above 27 till we got all the rain. It can be a tuff river to fish. Last year was better than this year. You can get shiners at park side grocery but lately they are out early in the week. Only other place I know is in Lebleu at the end of Luke Powel.

We carry live shiners, crickets, chartreuse nightcrawlers, regular nightcrawlers and red wiggler worms at The Tackle Box in Sulphur. :)

We also carry the new crickets in a can from fisher's choice as well as a large selection of frozen baits.

Sure thing, Gerald. The chartreuse crawlers work great for every species but are especially deadly on bream! Here's a couple pics I just snapped. One is the chart crawlers, the other is regular crawlers for comparison.
