Ideas for leader storage
We fish almost exclusively with fluorocarbon leaders, except for when hooking up a big croaker or sand trout on an 11/0 hook, when we use steel. I just ordered a few hundred hooks from Charkbait, and I like to have a few dozen pre-prepared (swivel-fluorocarbon-hook pre-tied to length) leaders on hand for fast replacements when the fishing is hot. I've tried lots of things to keep all this organized, but the thing that has worked best so far is putting each leader in one of the small resealable plastic bags in which hooks or snap swivels were originally purchased. Now that I'm buying my hooks in bulk, I don't have very many available.
Before I go and order a bunch of these little plastic zip bags for my leader organization, does anyone have any better ideas for keeping a few dozen leaders dry and organized and quickly accessible? |
3/4 inch thick by however long ya leaders are. I velcro it to my grab rail and put leaders pre rigged into pipe then put a rubberband around the swivels. In other words let em hangout bout an inch or two n put band around leaders holdin em to pvc. When u need one just pull it out. I dont rig hooks on mine just swivels and fluorocarbon

get a pool noodle cut to the length you want and wrap them around that think they are like 2 bucks at wall mart

I do this for snapper fishing, I take a big sponge the kind like u wipe up grout when doing floors n wrap the line around it and stick the tip of the hook into the sponge

i used to buy the cheap ziplock snack size bags and keep them that way.

I use small mailing envelopes, hooks don't puncture them like the ziplocks.
