SC Reaches 5,000 Members

We exceeded 5,000 members this weekend. Our site is growing at an incredible pace and the future is very bright. below are our growth numbers over the past three years with 2009 being the first year for our site. These numbers were total registered members as of December of each year.

2009 - 1,017
2010 - 2,047
2011 - 4,498

We are adding 200 or more members every month and 300 or more members during the summer months. We now sit at the number three spot in the state of Louisiana from an outdoor board perspective and the number two spot currently occupied by rodnreel.com is within our reach with that site currently posting only 7,267 members compared to just over 6,500 this time last year. LAS does not post their member count although I am confident that their member count is significantly above both the number 2 and 3 sites possibly combined at this point. That being said, the format of that site is less than desirable and we will someday become the largest site in the state of Louisiana.

This site has something for everyone. We have our open area which provides free access to all of our hunting and fishing reports and other outdoor related discussions and our premium area which provides access to the sports bar and gill net in addition to helping to provide funds to keep the site growing. We offer a yearly charity fishing tournament and drawings for free merchandise at various times throughout the year. We have a premium drawing which will (and have) included items such as LSU football tickets, rods, reels, sunglasses, tickets to events, etc... and a non premium drawing which includes Salty Cajun merchandise.

Members of our site have attended all of the major conservation events in our state over the past couple of years and we also purchase at least one table at major banquets in our area. Salty Cajun can become a major player in the outdoor sector over the next 10 years if our growth continues. Power still resides in numbers and if our growth continues we can have a legislative impact if we choose to do so.

While we may argue with each other from time to time and debate issues, at the end of the day each of you would drop what you were doing to help a fellow member in a time of need and you have proved this to be a fact several times throughout the past three years. We have loyal, knowledgably members and I am thankful for getting to know each of you.

I bought this site last April because I love the outdoors and the state of Louisiana and believe that this site has the potential to do great things, I knew this would not be a significant money maker for me. I thank each of you for making this site what it is and I enjoy my time here.

Please spread the word about our site to your friends and family and please post your hunting and fishing reports when you do make it outdoors. You will earn $30 of SC cash for your report and picture and reports are what attracts new members to our site, you guys are what keeps them here. I plan to add new SC merchandise to our SC store over the coming months and I will again sell these items at a price that is very close to my cost as I only offer this items to market our site.

Like most of you I did not necessarily see this type of growth coming, thanks for your support.

I joined in July, 2009 but I did not start posting until late 2010 when I had to respond to ASR beating up on LSU fans after an Arkansas loss.

I've been here since day one. I still remember how big a deal it was to get 1000 members. It took a couple of weeks to get the last 25 members, and Jeff had a drawing for some kind of prize lol. Casey has done a great job of growing this site more than anybody ever thought it would.

I joined 5/4/09, just don't fish as often as I'd like too, but not a day goes by that I'm not checking out the site. Lots of good info and people. Great site, keep up the good work.

Good job Casey.

I got an email from a certain someone "W" inviting me to come join the site the day it opened. It has grown steadily since it started and as you said, I expect it will keep growing.

Good news to hear about the site. It keeps me updated on things on the east side of the "water."

I love this site except when certain people start putting down others. I am one of the "pilgrims" from Texas that fishes the BL about 5 or 6 times a year but I avidly read and want to read accurate reports whether fish or caught or not. I want this site to succeed with good caring people responding and supportive of each other and I appreciate the responses I have received on this site the past 2 years. I am going Premium and encourage others to do the same. It is hard to place a value on the information received by reading and participating on this site and I hope that certain regular posting members would accept fellow Texans. My roots on my Dad's side are from Marksville and Avoyelle's parish so I have plenty of Cajun blood in me. Let's see Salty Cajun continue to grow to 10,000 strong!!

Keep up the good work and I am glad to see an additional moerator.

Good to see more Texans on the site. You are right down the road from me if you are in the 1960 / 45 north area. We could car pool down to BL one day.....
