Texas Hog Hunt 3/10/12

3 Attachment(s)
We had a great hunt at the Corley Ranch in Madisonville, TX!! I shot an 80lb. meat hog on the morning hunt while my buddy's son dropped the hammer on 2 for his first hunt ever. I could hear him yelling from my stand!! The afternoon hunt was slow for me despite a ram that wouldn't leave me alone. I would have plugged him had I brought enough cash. My brother shot one meat hog out of a pack, and then to top it off him and my buddy's son pulled a double shot to drop 2 more. My buddy never got a chance to shoot and we realized we forgot him in the woods when we started cleaning our afternoon kill!! All in all it was a great weekend with friends and 6 hogs! Here are a few pics: a scope shot, 3 down by the feeder, and Brock with is first kill!

Yea. It was a litle of all o our fault. Me and the guide tried tracking a hog I ended up missing and once we got back we started cleaning all the other hogs. Brock finally asked where his dad was. The guide started laughing and said he was giving him all the time he needed!

That's pretty awesome! I've only been a few times but, I absolutely love to shoot hogs!

Sounds like you guys had a very successful trip!

Any of you guys have experience with bleaching the skulls? The youngin wants to put them in their card room and I told him I would help him...... But I've never done it before.

What does it cost to hunt that place?

DO NOT soak in bleach. Absolute worse thing you can do. It will be yellow in short order. Also, an ant pile is a total waste of time and you are about guranteed that a stray dog will drag it off. Your best option is to skin the skull, cut away as much meat as you can and then boil off the rest. Then you bleach with hydrogen peroxide. The stronger the better, beauty salons or beauty supply places have the strongest peroxide.

No dogs drug my skull away cus i had it under a milk crate and i bleached mine over two years ago still not yellow. It took bout a year fer ants n such ta clean it off except fer hair and then a day in bleach did da rest. But to each its own

It was $200/ day. You have a limit of 2 hogs, 1 over 100 lbs and 1 under 100 lbs, if you hunt the high fence. If you hunt open range there is no limit, but you run the risk of no shot. It's not the nicest facilities I'm sure, but for $200 I was really impressed. Here is the website.
