Any bowfishing gooru's on here?
I am thinking about getting a platform built for my new boat so that I can start bowfishing. I have been before and know about what bows and stuff to get, but what I don't know is what lights to get for the platform. I know alot of people using the sodium lights, but I'm just wondering what is the best lights to use for the money. I saw some LED lights used for bowfishing. I have never seen or heard of these used before. Anyone have any experience? would love to hear feedback on all the different types of lights used both pros and cons. thanks

For the money you could rack up on them halogen work lights. People have different opinions about them. They are cheap and work, but they burn really hot over a period of time. I have 4 500 watt ligts on mine and been running them for about 20 or so trips. My buddy runs 5 150 watt sodiums. I think he got hit up for about $50 a piece on some website. The pros on them: They do not take up much power to run; they work great in marsh, they amber color really penetrates the water and illuminates anything the light hits. Soon enough ill be gettin mine ready to go make some fish bleed.

If you fish really clear water only go as cheap as possible if you want to be able to fish pretty dirty go with the 400watt Hps I've tried almost all light available over the last 4 years and they Deffinatly give the best light for marsh and bayou fishing

is the amber better than the white light from metal halides?
|
In the water I normally fish very much. And I have had them side by side both 400 watt on raised decks and there was a pretty big difference with the amber/ Hps beijing much better

In clear water we've shot as deep as the arrow will penetrate with hard hat lights it's just all in the types of water/weather you want to fish with best possible results
|
No doubt, go with the hps light. You will not have any troubles.

Heres mine. i was using halogens but am in the process of converting over to the LED lights. Im tired of listening to the generator all night. with the LED lights i can put 2 tractor batteries in my boat and run the lights all night |
Don't get a platform and geny that's old school... Get the new LED lights and build a cheap light bar.. Way better less noise no heavy geny save money light bulbs... I switched and it's the best for shooting redfish
