New project on Calcasieu River.....

18 wheelers have been hauling loads of Mats down to the VERY end of south Perkins for 2 days now.. 3 marsh buggys, an airboat aswell.. thinking a new site of an oil rig possibly? Anyone hear of anything else? Talked to one of the boys unloading the mats, he claims he knew nothing.

I think you are correct.

Can those tank car bridges down there carry that heavy of a load, when they bring in the drilling rig?

I guess they can! All 4 bridges have been holding with the trucks hauling trailer fills of mats, we will see! If not, where the drilling road starts, they can very easily park a barge.

He gots money, he gets what ever he wants.
It won't be him drilling. If there is no oil or gas there, no company will drill.
Was there any seismic work going on in that area in the past couple years?

There's no telling. It's so far back and at the end of the road nobody sees. I Damn sure ain't talking to his arrogant azz. Less than a mile away there is a well head on the river. So odds are, he's going to be making some money. I don't understand why he doesnt fix the friggin marsh up and sell permits to fish that bad boy. As of now there isn't squat back there. But a little stocking of the bass can fix it all!

Not in the past couple of years that I'm aware of, Fool would he able to answer that better for South Perkins Ferry. All of Moss Bluff has been done in the past 20 years. There have been a few drilled towards the north end of North Perkins Ferry.

I think it was hurricane rita time area.. hasn't been recently. However this isn't in the actual little burns. This is south of the little burns south ridge. More of his land..

Definitely a drilling rig, they are suppose to start bringing dirt in Monday or Tuesday for the pad

weedeater 01-07-2012 07:06 PM

I noticed all the pink ribbon tape on the road sign which is a pretty good indicator or oil rig

If you don't mind me asking, is that just word of mouth? Or is this a proven statement? Been talking with multiple people on my road, saying they are working on that pipeline. I think it will be a rig.. but in order for a rig they will need a lot of dirt. That's my backyard, I know how wet it is out there! I guess on Monday when the dirt trucks pass my place we will know!

Their bringing in 25000 yards of dirt starting Monday or Tuesday depending on weather. Gonna take two weeks to
bring it all in. It's for a drilling rig

That will be ~3000 truck loads. I guess James (Jim) Mistretta will be digging himself another "Pond". Jim lives on the east end of Campfire road....not far from where I live. If the dirt comes from his property..... I hope the dump truck will be using the north side of his land and not coming down Campfire.

Jim use to be big into Duck hunting in his "little burns" land along the river. I tried to get permission to Bow hunt on his land..... but got turned down. He did not want anyone on his property.

Absolutely nothing. My family owned a drilling company for 20 years. It's the guy doing all this mess.
