You might be too late bro, they quit making them and most tackle shops sold out. If you don't want to deal with ebay buy a lews tournament speed spool. I like mine better than the E7.

Might check The Tackle Box in Sulphur. O'B should be able to hook you up.

thanks for the shout out Paul, but as Ryan said, shimano stopped making the e7 in green. they now make the e7 in white/black and renamed it chronarch ch200e7. same reel, different paint, $20 more than it used to be when it was named curado.

as others said, you can still get green cu200e7's on ebay from 134.99.

BassAssasin 12-26-2011 06:09 PM

Thanks guys, I have been hearing good things bout the lews, I may try it out

BayBolt23 12-26-2011 06:26 PM

Acadiana Outfitters in New Iberia still has a bunch of green 200 e7s.
Ask for Casey and tell him Dave sent you

I seen one at Walmart in Lake Charles, but the price was $199.

Armand16 12-26-2011 06:49 PM

Anyone else have a Lewis reel?

Will"E"Fish 12-26-2011 07:19 PM

Yeh I do When it was new it out cast anything . Only problem is corrision program need's serious attention.Lot's of surface scale on reel and finish discoloration. Might be better for fresh water.

How long u have it before it started to wear? Is it just cosmetic or has the overall operation been compromised?

My fiancé got me one for Christmas from Academy on Louisiana Ave.

I have both reels; just received another Lews for Christmas. Hands down a better, longer lasting reel that the E7. Clean both often; not salt water friendly!

Curado is saltwater resistant. I get mine cleaned once a year.
My surf rod always has sand and salt inside the reel.
I just rinse with a light spray and wipe down with soapy rag,
then rinse again.
Reelman says it's best to not rinse. Just wipe down with a
50/50 mix of water and Simple Green.

I do just about the same as you, however I find very few reels truely saltwater resistant. Eventually the salt gets to them! During the doldrums of January I will totally disassemble all my reels, polish the spool pivots on a buffing machine (red rouge), clean in an ultrasonic, dry, use the proper lubricants and reassemble. I have 3 Lews that are over 19 years old that work almost like the day I bought them. (some wear and play in the handle bearing). Finish has some rust creep in the paint...but still very fishable!

Ray 12-27-2011 04:55 PM

They are way more resistant to saltwater than any other reels I have used, including Penn.
