New Member- where to fish?

Hello. I'm a new member here with a new to me (used) bay boat and I am looking for places to take my twin 13 yr old boys fishing for specs and reds. I am new to fishing for specs and reds and live in Opelousas. I have fished fresh water practically all my life. We went on a fishing trip to Lake Boudreaux and caught several Reds and Flounder a couple of months ago and have become hooked on this type of fishing! Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Welcome to the SC. But yeah DeCade area is starting to get good. Just look for the boats and thats about it. Or you could run across the lake and find them which isn't really too tough right now with this cold spell. Lake Boudreaux is pretty good as well right now and the marsh surrounding the duck ponds should hold redfish and specks with the cold water. Might be in Dularge Saturday if I can drag a boat out there.

If you want to fish decade launch at falgout canal landing. Mechant launch at jugs. Both are off of hwy 315,bout 2 hours and some change from our area.

If you are going to Dularge the specs are going to be holding in the deep canals. Try the tank battery canal off of northern bayou saveur. The rock damn close to deer bayou or the gated canal off of bayou dufrene. Tsunami swim baits on the bottom. Purple haze color. Slow retrieve.

I wonder if you can run the pipeline canal to saveur right now? I know a certain somebody got stuck there not too long ago. :D
