When you do find it.. Make sure you stay in the bouys.. They call it mud like for a reason.

Thanks Cat Daddy. I was wondering if that was it. I had scoped this area out on google earth. it looks like a bunch of canals butt up to the channel. Are there any weirs in this area. Does that area of the river hold a good bit of redfish?

The T.A. Fawver rocks and the water control structure just north of the bridge hold good reds also.
I have friends who have a camp at the end of Little Chenier who fish for freshwater cats at the locks. They catch a lot of them, but it was more before Rita.

This one is a better chart. You can click the + and - signs at the bottom to enlarge.
Just find the Grand Chenier area and enlarge.

Thanks Ray. Is the water control structure you are talking about at the end of the little cut on the West side of the canal before the plant? Also, where are the TA Fawver Rocks.

Ray 08-29-2009 12:19 PM

T.A. Fawver rocks are on the North side of the river. Go down the road that goes to the old Mich. Wich./ANR/ElPaso gas plant(don't know the name anymore, it changes all the time), and when you get to the part of the river that almost touches the road, there will be a bunch of rocks along that part of the river. It is named for the guy who lived in that white house that was there before Rita.
The water control structure is on the West side of the road heading North from the West side of the bridge. The outlet goes East, under the road and into the river. There is usually a lot of bait that goes out into the river after a good rain.
