Here are a few pics that I took with ROV that I work on. We are salvaging a few Gorilla Class Jackup Rigs that went down for Hurricane Katrina. I will keep posting more pics as I get take them but here are a few for now. I'll try to get some good pics of all the snapper, amberjack, grouper, sharks, and various other fish they have here. Enjoy.

DARK!

Depends on water clarity and where the sun is in the sky!

Yeah, on the operations side. I work for a consulting company in Lafayette. Lot of decommissioning work, pipeline installation and mitigation work, but I really dig their salvage operations! Way cool!

Its only dark at night time!! Usually in blue water you start to lose ambient light at 600-800 foot deep. Right now during the day i can see very well with out any lights on, on the ROV. This picture you can see probably with about 150 ft of visability.

Yes you are correct....some of our work class ROV's can lift 880 lbs. but we do have a few bigger ROV's that can lift 1200 lbs. I work out of the Oceaneering office in Morgan City!!

So where do you mostly fish? The East side of V Bay?

bay_slayer 08-21-2009 04:02 PM

Naw..... I mostly fish out in the Atchafalaya river in the bay. But i fish Lake decade and the surrounding areas. I do fish the east side of Vermillion bay too just not as often. I would like to go more but I really dont know the area to well. I never went with anybody that know the place.
