Trolling motor issues

my trolling motor goes off after about 20 seconds....then kicks back on .....like a breaker resetting.

Any ideas why this is happening.
It's always done it but this weekend I finally really needed it and it drove me insane of course.

Sounds like a circuit breaker but who knows. They have a guy that repairs Trolling motors on 931

I had this happen to me, when I had my trolling motor too deep and it was struggling to push the boat, then I lifted my tm up to the right level and it never happened again but it took me a few minutes to figure that one out! check your prob to see if line or something is keeping is tangled in it.

The breaker that attaches to the battery may not be the correct rating. Mine did the same thing and ended up having to up the breaker rating. Once that was done that was the last I had that problem.

Try by-passing the breaker just for a short amount of time. If it doesn't occur anymore then its a breaker problem if it does then you know the problem is within the motor itself. Mine also gave me similar problems but I installed 6 guage wire and a 60 amp breaker(Minn Kota recommended size) and I haven't had any problems since. I hope this helps.

I had a similar problem once. Turned out the ground wire on the battery was badly corroded and not making good connection.
