Don't turn out the lights!
3 Attachment(s)
Headed out to Prien Lake with my oldest son around 11 last night to go fish some lights. Made our way to the south side of the lake and shut it down about 200 yards out from the first light so we wouldn't disturb the guys fishing off the dock. Fish busting the water everywhere, put on my she dog knock-off Bomber, first cast BAM! Gafftop:(! On my son's 3rd or 4th cast he hooks up with a solid 16" trout, his first on topwater! I am thinking that we are going to have a heck of a night...2 hours, 2 lights, 200 backlashes, and 2 gafftops later I decide we'd hit one more light and call it a night. Pull up to a light with no one home and toss my big glow eel right into the middle WHAM! 20" trout in the boat. Next cast, one twitch and I bring in the biggest of the night a solid 5 pound fish, sand eel swallowed so deep I have to cut it off. My son is freaking out at this point because his reel is fried and we're on the fish. I let him fight the next couple I hooked up with and acted as net man. Played this game for the next 45 minutes with mostly "W" trout until the sandies and rat reds showed up.
Headed in with a 1 man limit, my oldest in love with night fishing, and my other boys begging to go out as soon as we can. Gotta love it!
