Either water got too hot or you need "fresh" water that had more oxygen in it.
Try adding a bottle of frozen water to cool the water. Might need several..... as the day goes on add another bottle.

Ive found with shad back home that some of the oxygen powder and a bubble box helped a lot. As well as a bit of ice every now and then, especially in summer. Way to get a young one involved in the outdoors. Nice fish to boot!

We you fishing south or north. The lay downs or edge of grass? I fished the first canal t othe left if your headed down south of the bridge this Spring and did really well.
Also Fished Bayou Nep A K to the north also this spring and did well.
Are you fishing with a cork or tightlining. How deep?
Thanks

Make sure the ice is in a sealed container the chlorine in tap water will kill da bait faster

Beautiful fish. Can you still dock at the big bridge on Hwy. 14? I haven't been there in a long time, the last time we used that dock it was in bad shape.
