Gulp on Sale

Gulp is on sale at Academy in Lafayette. $4.12 a pack
Thats a pretty good deal compared to the regular price.

mcjaredsandwich 07-29-2011 10:58 PM

Same price in lake charles. They sellin it cheap!

Rookie Redfish 08-01-2011 04:08 PM

Which Gulp, do you think is best for Calcasieu.
I tried the Penny color ones, got a few.
Next I need to figure out that cork business and popping it.
Still no damn flounders or reds, just croakers and drum.
But at least im making progress and havent got a catfish for a few weeks now.
Thank goodness.

X2...the pearl white color works good too for flounder and reds. Trick is to keep them away from the trash fish biting the tails off!!

msu-tfrancois 08-01-2011 04:44 PM

chart swimming mullet and 3" white shrimp....try with and without cork sometimes they not wanting the cork

BIGJ 08-01-2011 04:44 PM

I like the pearl white 3" shrimp and smimming mullet. I don't use a popping cork.

Kenner18 08-01-2011 04:49 PM

3" glow shrimp under popping cork. White or chart swimming mullet fished on a jig head .

Will"E"Fish 08-01-2011 06:17 PM

Sugar spice glow 3 " shrimp and natural colored shrimp.

Damn bro. I just use 20lb powerpro. You don't need 65lb inshore. IMO.

Im still learning about trout fishing, but I know that you definately do not want to go all of the way to the hook with your braid. You need a mono or fluoro leader. Trout can see very well and you will not catch many with Braid.

Last year I went out with two other guys and me and one guy were murdering the trout. We were catching 5 to the other guys 1 (maybe). We were fishing on the bottom and he had braid all of the way to the hook. I had braid also, but I had an egg weight and had the braid tied to a swivel. I then had a 20lb fluoro leader from the swivel to the hook. We were all fishing the same rig with live cocahoes, but he had braid to the hook and wasn't catching crap.

In off colored water i don't think it makes a difference. But i have had my butt handed to me till i tied on a floro. leader.
