Dog food

What you feeding the pooch?
I have the new wonder retriever and just trying to see what, if any, new foods are out there.
Feed Nutro's to the pack now, but they are mostly bassets, no high energy food needed there. Low calorie is the ticket with them bad dogs.

@ $15.00 per hundred #'s:eek:

You serious Pookie?

SP, look for a food with 30/20 protein:fat ratio for working breeds. Eukanuba,Pro Plan,Black Gold, ect. but try not to get sticker shock.
Euk and PP are in the $45.00/37.5# range and can be easily found at the big box pet stores;Petco,Petsmart. There are others that are topshelf but finding stocking distributors can be a night mare. Sam's sells a knock off of Euk and PP that will work and I have fed it before with ok results. I have been feeding PP since 2002 and have not had any problems other than the price.

Petco since they always stock Pro Plan Preformance, hate driving around to find dog food and want to buy where they have a quick turn over. PPP is right at $50.00 per 37.5# but I get a $7.00 discount per bag and every tenth bag is free. You can't charge what I charge and feed Ole Roy or get the results healthwise.

Puppy CHow made all my dogs have the stinky runs. Bad.
I fed mine Purina One for Sensitive Systems.
It smelled like Pogy meal. Got it's protein from fish meal.
Vet said if they like it, it keeps meat on them and didn't make
them fat or give them the drizzly ****s, then it is good.
Made the turds look like turds and easy to wash out the pen
when they poopooed in it.
It was so Pogy smelling, we had to keep it in a 5 gallon bucket
with a sealing lid on it. But my dogs had lots of energy and never
got fat.

Raymond 07-20-2011 09:29 PM

Look at the ingredients the first and second ingredient should be some sort of meat. If they are corn or rice then keep looking...
