Rod Holder for Truck

2 Attachment(s)
Built this last night, got tired of my rods getting beat to death in the back of my truck. I always hated that track system that was installed in the bed, but I finally found a use for it. I didn't have to drill any holes to attach it.

Thats a clean little setup you got there.

Nice! I did something similar not to long ago in my truck, best hour and 50 bucks ever spent lol

SaltERedneck 07-12-2011 08:48 AM

thats a sweet idea man.

I didn't want them to stick up too high in case I forget they are back there and go a drive thru or try to park under the camp. A 7'-6" rod stuck up only about 1 foot above the roof of my truck. The only draw back is that an ice chest can slam into the rods. I am still working on another way to protect them.

 It is never empty.....it always has at least 25 inches of ice!!! I think that is how you measure ice right?

SaltyShaw 07-12-2011 09:25 AM

They got a bar that ratchets across your bed and makes a block for your ice chests, I bought one for 20 bucks ice chest problem solved!

Front seat of truck is the only place mine ride, have way too much invested for them to ride in the back.

While your there you could pick up a container of those short (6in) bungee straps. Will work gread for strapping around and over the top of each reel to hold them secure to the pvc holders.

I got one long one that goes across the bed over all the rod and reels works purrrrfect

bjhooper82 07-12-2011 10:03 AM

Great idea. Nice set up.

cabwiz2 07-12-2011 10:23 AM

Why dont you just put a board on the 2x4 that extends out long enough so the chest will never hit them? Just n case you forget to put the ratchet thing

You may be able to just loop over the reel and hook to the bottom of the PVC pube.
