Fourchon storms / trout slam

Took my girlfriend and her mom fishing today .... Hit the beach 1st thing to catch at least 1 on tw ...stuck a 3lbr n headed offshore, it was pretty calm make it about 15-20 miles sse to 100 ft of water n it starts looking dark like a storm is movin in. Start pitching baits tryin to stick some mangroves..... Nothing but sharks, gf was bottom fishing n couldn't get 8oz down faster that the sharks.. Pissed..... Run a bit farther get bombarded by LOOP security by their 50-70' stealth gunner boat, tell us to follow them out of the secure zone, funny thing is we were no in the LOOP, but I did see a big tanker off in the distance so maybe that's why. So we made a run in trying to escape the storms to the east n west of us . Made it back inside belle pass in one piece n headed out the back way to the islands , found some good water n started catching some really nice trout super shallow ... A little shallower than we could get, so I convinced my girlfriend to hop in and wade with me, we ended up with 25 real nice trout . So after 3 days if fishing last weekend and again today I figured she wouldn't want to go tomorrow.... Wrong she's down to go tomorrow and wants to wade! Hetes a few pics from today http://tapatalk.com/mu/ae4583df-a75d-4ddf.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/ae4583df-a770-1b00.jpghttp://tapatalk.com/mu/ae4583df-a785-a22b.jpg

Question

Fishpox. . .Thanks for report. I have a question, what type of boat do you have. The picture looks like a Triton 22 or 24. Just wondering what type of boat you ran offshore with. I am in market to by a bay boat. I fish coastal and would like to got offshore (light offshore). I know mother nature makes the decision, but do you have any problems going for mangroves in your boat?

Salty 07-09-2011 10:42 AM

Why are you in every pic? Just because you own the boat.....just sayin'.

No problems at all, bob bought one first we ran offshore in his .... I was sold , bought one a week later mine is a 24 lts pro . I've taken mine 20+ miles offshore and never felt unsafe , yesterday it got nasty I just put them trim tabs down n was able to run 30mph through the slop . Only thing I'd change is a 300 instead of a 250
