Work offshore
Here's a shot in tha dark. My sister's boyfriend is wanting to work offshore. With the economy like it is I don't know if that idea is even possible. He's 20 yrs old and a very hard worker. If anybody knows a company that's hiring or where to even start looking, please let me know. Right now he's a helper on a pipeline crew.

painters/blasters are always hiring. hard grunt work, but pay is decent and within a year or two he could be knocking on 17-18$/hr with killer overtime. I was making anywheres from 84-105 /week.
not sure if he's into that kind of work. there's no schedule, you work til, the job's done. unless it's a BIG job of course, then its usually 21/7. it's a step in the door, and in the field, they are always looking. helpers usually start at 13-14/hr |

very tough to get on a drilling crew right now without any experience. but getting a job in the gulf really comes down to what he's willing to do because there are jobs out there

Danos & Curole has been awarded multiple coatings projects for the year. As a current or past employee we are asking for your assitance in getting the word out. We are currently taking applications and testing combination blaster/painters for offshore work. If you know anyone who shares our values, please refer them to the website at www.danos.com to fill out an application or call someone in the hiring office at 985-693-3313. We appreciate your continued interest in Danos & Curole. |
VERY tough to find a job right now in the oilfield with no experience in the field. I have been filling out apps left and right for any position with zero luck going on a month now. From what I have seen, you need a year experience even for a helper position.I filled out 3 apps with danos.... Not being negative, just real world experience personally. Pisses me off cause my entire previous work history is all mechanical, that should be enough for a helper position.

I just had a fire watch come out for us yesteray. Neve seen an offshore platform in his life and no idea of his job duties. He is getting $300/day. Green as can be.
