Work offshore

Here's a shot in tha dark. My sister's boyfriend is wanting to work offshore. With the economy like it is I don't know if that idea is even possible. He's 20 yrs old and a very hard worker. If anybody knows a company that's hiring or where to even start looking, please let me know. Right now he's a helper on a pipeline crew.

painters/blasters are always hiring. hard grunt work, but pay is decent and within a year or two he could be knocking on 17-18$/hr with killer overtime. I was making anywheres from 84-105 /week.

not sure if he's into that kind of work. there's no schedule, you work til, the job's done. unless it's a BIG job of course, then its usually 21/7. it's a step in the door, and in the field, they are always looking.

helpers usually start at 13-14/hr

very tough to get on a drilling crew right now without any experience. but getting a job in the gulf really comes down to what he's willing to do because there are jobs out there

Not sure what area you are in but look up CHI, or Omni Services and ask them about getting an app or interview for a paint and blast job. My dad is one of the board of directors and they are always hiring for stuff like that

VERY tough to find a job right now in the oilfield with no experience in the field. I have been filling out apps left and right for any position with zero luck going on a month now. From what I have seen, you need a year experience even for a helper position.I filled out 3 apps with danos.... Not being negative, just real world experience personally. Pisses me off cause my entire previous work history is all mechanical, that should be enough for a helper position.

I just had a fire watch come out for us yesteray. Neve seen an offshore platform in his life and no idea of his job duties. He is getting $300/day. Green as can be.

for another company, i would put i had at least a year experience as helper....helpers come and go, but a good helper will get put to good use..depending on how you play your cards, i've gotten 18/hr for being a helper. but that's 1 helper(me) and 8 painter/blasters to tend to:work::work:.

then again, i've also been a painter/blaster for 16/hr. gotta take what you can.

TWIC ---get it or dont expect to work below hwy 90

GET IN WHERE YOU FIT IN:work::work:

Danos has a real good safety record also, they also take care of their employees.. plus if you live far, they have pretty nice bunk houses. and i believe they are real good on per diem, even for training classes and stuff

I could not believe it either. That's his pay, his company is charging more. Thats damn good money for that job. I mean this guy didn't know how to fill out hot work permits or what JSA's were and he is being sent offshore at 300 a day. I been tryin to find the camera crew, we must be on a punk'd episode or something. :help::spineyes::help::spineyes::help:
