Salty Cajun Dove Hunt

On my drive to work this morning I was thinking about dove hunting and then I thought it might be fun to have a Salty Cajun dove hunt sometime this Fall. I think we could hook up with Mark Atwell's Guide service as he plants dove fields and has hunts pretty much every weekend of the season. I believe his prices are pretty reasonable and I am sure a few of us could throw in a few extra dollars to help pay for Huntin Fool. Anybody interested?

Dove Report.............

Here in Moss Bluff, my wife puts out bird seed every day which attracts lots of birds.

We have doves all year long, but starting about June there numbers increase.

This year I am seeing a lot more White-winged doves. They are quite a bit larger than the morning doves. I think I have only seen one Ringneck dove but it could have been a eurasian collared doves.

The White-winged doves make up about half of the doves that we have in the yard.

About a week ago.......there were 8 doves all bunched up under one feeder. I told the wife that I could get all of them with one shot. She diid not say anything.

I believe Mark has some fields leased right around Holmwood for his dove hunting....

Dove Hunt

I believe Mark's fields are mostly in SW Louisiana. I have talked to him before and I remember him telling me that he normally has better shoots the second and third season, but they do have birds in September as well.

I believe dove season starts September 5th this year, but I will be out of town that weekend.

I'll contact Mark and start rolling on the idea and see what options are available. We could do a big cookout - maybe lease a whole field if we had enough guys.

W, if you have family land that is holding doves that would be awesome!
