Speculizer, anybody tried em?

Just bought the speculizer, basically a double rig bought from the store. anybody ever used them, had any luck? Fishing in a tourney and won't have time to test it out, waste of money /money well spent?

bought some spoons, chads, minnows, and couple others, any iother pointers?
never ever fished with lures/artificial, always chased the birds and tossed live skrimp at em. help a salty brotha out pleaseehttp://a1672.g.akamai.net/7/1672/116.../478717119.jpg

Both will catch trout,no doubt.

Some tourneys have rules about fishin tandem rigs... I have a buddy who crushes school trout in the tandem cork rig.... I refuse to throw a cork. Yer best shot a big trout will be at sunrise 1st light throwing a spook jr. Smoke/ truce or truce/ clear ( I assume u r fishing coco/ fourchon?? Also slang that Topwater spook anytime the sun goes behind a cloud .. If u have a partner make him fish plastic under a cork or on a jug head and u stay dedicated to the TW just grind it out let him catch what u need to weigh in n u cull those with bigger TW ones u catch . Pm me of where u r fishing n I'll try to help u out

THATS ONE HELLAFIED TOURNEY PLAN RIGHT THURRR...i likes

tourney's in DuLarge for my pop's company. I guess it's a Houma/Terrebonne thing for double rigs, i think it started off here...

anyways, i just bought the setup to have a reference so i can make my own.

DEFINITELY WILL GO BUY SOME SPOOK jr's, didnt have it when i was shopping.

here's some other gear, http://i880.photobucket.com/albums/a...4/IMAG0001.jpg
is treble hooks better, im thinking so, need to keep that in mind next time i go shopping.

booyagasha 06-04-2011 12:15 PM

also another noob question, best way to rig a spoon?

i want to slam the trout...my pops only care for reds

fishinpox 06-04-2011 12:21 PM

Just throw topwater till 9ish am unless it's cloudy if so throw that ish all friggin day.. If around 830-9 the TW bite slows throw a mirolure catch 2000 suspending bait

fishinpox 06-04-2011 12:22 PM

What size boat??wind? Can u make it to the islands???

booyagasha 06-04-2011 12:27 PM

18.5 striper c/c http://www.seastriper.com/forums/pic...pictureid=4324

only thing is no trolling motor and fishfinder intermittently comes on and off.So I'm gonna have to stray from the skinny's, A shot to coco islands was my original plan. I've fished Dularge but in flats boat, never fished in the striper yet.

fishinpox 06-04-2011 12:33 PM

Run to the islands look for mullet schooled up don't throw into em but on the fringes or ahead of em ...... I'd start in the cove @ trinity big reef / bar usally holds big fish. I've had alot of luck in that cove this year. Last year I watched someone win a tourney from that cove also that wellhead directly north 300 or so yards holds nice fish all around it is a big shell pad fish a soft plastic slow n deep around it don't think u have to just fish the legs either that pad extends far out around the rig

Great idea......custom-painted Texas Chicken. ;)

booyagasha 06-04-2011 05:14 PM

bahhh...the flats boat's motor borked on us just now...so will have to test during tourney time.

mirror lures, bombers ,and Zaras are on my shopping list.

i think the best bet for us and specks is at the islands/ around the islands...

thanks for the input guys....hopefully we can make this an eventful and successful first ever fishing tourney AND first ever time using TW/artificials
